Instant Natural Protein – Amy Stories

Getting Back on Track with Your Lives and Goals

I believe many would describe the year 2020 as chaotic. The Covid-19 outbreak has us “living in a state of high alert” that derailed our normal routine and life goals. Additionally, after months of living in lockdown, many find we’ve changed mentally, physically, and emotionally. We no longer feel good about ourselves.

Many experience regret and dissatisfaction. May it be your body shape, your weight, your stamina, etc. You may also reminisce about how it good it felt to be strong prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Do not despair! If you have derailed, now it is time to get back on track.

Fittingly as 2020 ends, let us start planning. Oprah Winfrey once said, “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

Here, we want to share with you how our friends, after finding their lives greatly changed by the Covid-19 pandemic, were able to recover using the simplest form of solution. It is our 2-minute read to help inspire you to get back on track and how it will feel good to be strong again.

I am a very social and out-going person. I am 29 years old and have been working hard because I am aiming for a managerial post that will be vacant soon (my colleague is returning overseas). It will be a great achievement to be promoted to a managerial role at my age. My parents would be proud.

But the start of Movement Control Order (MCO) brought by Covid-19 pandemic changed everything. I am not used to working away from office. It feels uncomfortable to working alone without supervision and without friends’ companion after hours. After a while, I started to feel lonely and lost. Besides that, a cramped studio room, noisy neighbors and an uncomfortable makeshift workplace had me feeling tired and demotivated. I just do not feel like working anymore.

I started spending more time snacking and scrolling the social media instead of completing my work task. Often, I would be on social media all day and night resulting in missed deadlines and not showing up for morning meetings.

Once, I snoozed off during an online meeting. My direct supervisor who has been monitoring my drop in performance gave me an ultimatum. It was a wakeup call. I became fearful I may miss out on the promotion that I have previously work so hard for.

I started researching online for solutions to get back on track with my life and goals. The one that caught my eye was changing my eating habits. In short, eating my way to success. It seems that good nutrition could change the way I feel and perform daily.

Firstly, schedule everything. Just like how I am needed to schedule work, I started scheduling my mealtimes. I find making a schedule helps me be more efficient and focused. Making a schedule for mealtimes prevents snacking. I would schedule time for 6 meals (3 main meals, 3 snacks) a day. All meals are prepared according to high protein diet principle as it helps keeps me energized longer while reducing cravings.

Second is defining my goals. I apply similar SMART technique from my workplace to my eating habits. It is because to be energetic, stronger, and motivated cannot be achieved by luck. It needs planning.

Third is tracking. Simply record everything. With sophisticated mobile apps, nothing is impossible. I rely on various apps to remind and track my progress. They serve as evidence whether I have successfully navigated my day and how closer I am to my goals.

Finally, staying focused and be disciplined. This is critical. To keep myself from derailing again. I write down my goal, “Get Promoted” in a several pieces of paper and paste in on my laptop, my living room wall, my fridge, and the mirror in my toilet. This way I will be reminded to stick to my plan.

Additionally, a few colleagues of mine started scheduling watercooler moments every day to keep ourselves connected and sane. All in all, these changes make me feel good and motivates me to work hard again. I look forward to return working normally in office. This experience has taught me to be mentally strong and focused on my goals even in different environment setting.

I used to think it is difficult to have a high-protein diet as I am a noodle, cakes and ‘kueh-mueh’ lover. I just could not resist those foods. But when there is a will, there is a way. My colleague Shoba recommend taking protein drinks and introduced me to her favorite brand-named Nature’s Way Instant Natural Protein from Australia.

But wait, isn’t that what body builders use? I don’t want to look bulky and muscular. Shoba assured me saying, “No, it’s not like that. Nature’s Way Instant Natural Protein contains only protein and without additives that makes body muscular. It is helps you be stronger and leaner. Don’t worry.”

Shoba text me links and news showing high-protein diet is better for us. Studies shows consuming more protein decreases body fat, and abdominal body fat while increasing lean body mass. According to news from reputable source; not consuming enough protein during the day can be a primary reason for fatigue. Shoba told me, our diet usually is made up to 60% of carbohydrate, 15% protein and 25% fat. For a high protein diet, the ratio for protein is increased by 20% to 35% by reducing our carbohydrate intake. Simply replacing some of my meals with Nature’s Way Instant Natural Protein can easily help me achieve my high-protein diet goals.

Hence, I got two bottles through the internet. It comes in two flavors of vanilla and chocolate. I found the powder to be fine and easily mixed with water. The flavor is mild and not overpowering even when I mixed with other drinks such as milk, smoothie, and oat meals.

Nature’s Way Instant Natural Protein is simple to hit my high-protein diet goals. It is 100% Vegan, non-dairy, non-GMO, no additives, no gluten, low in fat and sugar. I felt happier drinking it because I know it is a non-animal-based product and made from sustainable source which is good for the environment.

I especially hate those 2pm meeting or training session. My room gets stuffy during the afternoon and my 15-year-old air-conditioner is not working at its best. That is why I tend to feel sleepy during these hours. After my snoozing during meeting fiasco, I made sure it will not happen again.

Prior to meeting, I would make myself a power smoothie to keep me feeling energized and refreshed. It is a cool banana smoothie. The recipe is simple. Blend two bananas with half-a-cup each of yogurt and milk, two teaspoons of honey, a cup of ice, a pinch of cinnamon and two tablespoons of Nature’s Way Instant Natural Protein ( I used vanilla, but you can switch with chocolate if you like). For a special touch, add some coffee powder or a squeeze of lemon. Blend all together and you have yourself a healthy and yummy smoothie.

I am guilty of “Pandemic Weight Gain” — by Hana

I am fanatic when it comes to K-Dramas. I watch one after the other. Crushing on different oppas, envied on the starlets’ strong characters, and falling in love with the story lines.

As I envied the starlets, I try to emulate their strong and lean bodies. This is what motivated me into getting a life transformation regime – I worked out!

Slowing My Time Bomb — by Sofea

As a business consultant in a large corporation, I used to ask my clients what are their priorities in life? The frequently mentioned is accumulating wealth. Rarely good health is mentioned.

But the Covid-19 pandemic have me thinking of how fragile life is. To think a virus which is not considered a living being can destroy life and economies. Though economies around the world have been impacted, I have come to appreciate the saying from Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The first wealth is health.”

Uncle Don, from Active To Standstill and his Revival

Rachel lives with her retired father fondly known as Uncle Don. Although retired, Uncle Don leads a busy life. Every morning by 5am, he can be seen at the local playground exercising with his friends. By 6.30am, he would then head to the local pasar pagi for his breakfast. Then, he would bring home my favorite food and ensures I had a good breakfast before heading off to work.

Then the pandemic hit us. All are to stay at home. Uncle Don detests this as he values his independence and mobility and is never known to sit still.

Life Transforming Journey for Two – by Linda

One day, I took my mother to the doctor after she complained of indigestion. The doctor who is also a family friend looked at us and immediately ordered us to undergo a medical check-up.

I clearly remember the day when our usually mild-mannered family doctor shows us our medical results. He was furious! We were not only overweight, our readings for cholesterol level, blood sugar level, and blood pressure were dangerously high – classic symptoms of metabolic syndrome (more about metabolic syndrome later).
